3,000 policemen to be engaged as security at European Basketball Championships

Assistant Minister of Interior and Head of the Serbian Interior Ministry’s Public Security Service Miroslav Milosevic said today that there will be 3,000 members of the Serbian Ministry of Interior engaged, on a daily basis, at the 2005 Men’s European Basketball Championships.

Milosevic said in a press conference that the central police headquarters in the Ministry of Interior’s building will coordinate, plan and control the security in all three cities where the games are being held - in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Vrsac, and that in each city there will be an operational headquarters.
He pointed out that all necessary resources of the Serbian Ministry of Interior have been recruited as security for this large sports event, and that cooperation with police officers from all participating countries has been achieved. He also said that all policemen from Serbia will be joined by their Greek colleagues before the final day of the Championships.
