First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic handed over today the keys to 20 apartments for refugee families in Valjevo, within the implementation of the Regional Housing Programme in the Republic of Serbia under Subproject 5.

The programme aims to provide housing and provide for the most vulnerable families from the former Yugoslavia who have the status of refugees. The program is implemented in our country, but also in the Republic of Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro.
During the handover ceremony, Dacic said that the Regional Housing Programme is not only a successful initiative and a positive example of dealing with the humanitarian consequences of forced displacement, but also a kind of successful and constructive regional cooperation.
He emphasised that after 25 years, our fellow citizens who often lived in conditions unworthy of human life and who often had to change their residence, will have one less worry because they will get their home.
I want to assure you that the government of the Republic of Serbia, together with other partners, continues to strongly support the Regional Housing Programme, until the last refugee family is adequately and permanently provided with housing, said Dacic.
