Last year’s winner of the Bazyash award, given for the 12th successive year, was a poet from Chicago, Djordje Nikolic, while this year the award will be handed over to Vitezovic at the Bazyash Monastery churchyard, which was built in the 12th century and founded by the first Serbian archbishop, Sava Nemanjic.
The manifestation “The Days of the Transfiguration of Serbs in Romania” began today and will last until August 19. The programme includes the laying of flowers on the Serbian soldiers’ monument in Sokolovac, a poet’s afternoon on the Danube in Old Moldavia and the presentation of Nikola Nesic’s poetry collection for children in Macevic. A gathering of poets from Serbia and Romania will be held in Timisoara, as well as the commemoration of the church’s patron saint’s day in Arad Gaj.
