The Japanese Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Ryuichi Tanabe and head of the Kragujevac health centre Mirko Sreckovic signed today, at the Serbian government building, a Japanese government contract on a donation worth €72,000, to the Serbia-Montenegrin emergency health care service.
On behalf of the health centre, Sreckovic expressed gratitude to the Japanese government representatives, and said that this assistance will be of great significance since the Kragujevac health centre is one of the largest health centres in Serbia, adding that it also covers part of the vital transportation route of Corridor 10.
According to him, the Japanese government’s donation to Kragujevac will be used for the purchase of two ambulances, four inhalers, four sterilizers, and an ultrasound device.
Ambassador Tanabe expressed hope that the Japanese government’s assistance will not only help improve the situation of the emergency health care service in Kragujevac, but also enhance the level of medical care throughout Serbia.
Since 2001, Tanabe explained, Japan has allocated more than $14 million directly to the Serbia-Montenegrin health sector, and he hopes that this cooperation will continue.
Also in attendance at the signing of the agreement at the Serbian government building were Assistant Minister of Health Sinisa Gradinac and the Mayor of Kragujevac, Veroljub Stevanovic.
