The President of the Guca community, Miroslav Radojcic, raised the Dragacevo assembly’s flag and wished all the participants a good time and plenty of fun in the following seven days.
The first guests arrived in Guca yesterday, and the organisers expect a turnout of about half a million fans of authentic folk music, by Sunday, August 7, when the final trumpet orchestra competition is being held.
About 200,000 tourists from Slovenia, Italy, Germany, France and other European countries are expected to come to the Serbian village.
The traditional parade of all competitors, as well as the young trumpet orchestra competition, is to take place on August 6, the penultimate day of the festival. On August 7, festivalgoers will see the final competition and proclamation of winners at the stadium in Guca.
Information about the Guca trumpet festival can be found at
www.guca.co.yu, which has English, German, and Italian language versions.
