Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced today at the GovTech summit in Paris that the government has digitalisation as its priority and that people in Serbia have started to believe in the process, as now they see tangible results.

Brnabic said at the panel “Creating the conditions for a European GovTech moment” that we are living in an extraordinary time, the time of the 4th Industrial Revolution, in which Serbia has the opportunity to catch up and be successful in it.
She stated that digital transformation in Serbia is based on three pillars: the transformation of education, the transformation of public services, which, among other things, leads to the complete eradication of corruption, and the digital transformation of the business environment, i.e. support for innovation and startups.
All of this should contribute to a dynamic and sustainable development, the Prime Minister said, pointing out that startups and innovations offer solutions to problems that are not even perceived, or that there are no solutions to them.
Brnabic emphasised the importance of the role of “open data policy” and recalled that two and a half years ago, when she became prime minister, she stated that digitisation and education reform will be priorities.
I saw the potential even though the resistance was high. Today, two and a half years later, 70% of people would say that this is our biggest chance because it brings concrete results, said the Prime Minister, giving an example of e-prescription and an improved procedure for registering a newborn baby.
The Prime Minister also stated that Serbia is in the top 5 in talents and blockchain, and in the top 10 in gaming.
Brnabic recalled that she also spoke about this topic in Berlin at a similar conference, when she noted that the German economy is so strong that it does not have to change, but that we must.
Therefore, she added, the government should be a leader and support start-ups and innovations, to want to change society and economy at the moment of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
