Increasing political and economic relations with Armenia

Belgrade/Tokyo, 22 October 2019

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met in Tokyo, where she attends the ceremony of enthronement of Japanese Emperor Naruhito, with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian.

Brnabic told reporters that the meeting was at the initiative of the President of Armenia, which she understood as an indication of how much he wanted to invest in relations between the country and Serbia.

We have started to look for space for our embassy in Armenia and are working on what we promised, which is the abolition of visas for the citizens of that country, which will show our partnership, said the Prime Minister.

She also stressed that Armenia presides over the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with which, on behalf of the Serbian government, she will sign a Free Trade Agreement in Moscow on Friday.

Serbia and Armenia have very good political and economic relations, stressed Brnabic, adding that today's topic of discussion was cooperation in the field of information technology, science, research and development and digitisation.

The President of Armenia gave the Prime Minister a present for the President of the Republic of Serbia and again invited him to visit the country soon.

The delegation of the government of Serbia and my cabinet will discuss the most specific form of cooperation in education in Armenia next month, especially in the field of programming and retraining, added the Prime Minister.
