Dragan Kojadinovic
In an interview for the latest issue of a Roma monthly “Romanonevip”, Kojadinovic recalled that in the course of history, the national minorities in Serbia have been through wars, sufferings and dictatorships together with the Serbian people.
He stressed the importance of mutual assistance, since both the Serbs and the minorities are part of one state.
Kojadinovic said that in Serbia everyone has equal rights and there should be no difference among members of different nationalities when it comes to media and culture.
Concerning the Roma, the experience has shown that, apart from radio stations and television programmes in the Roma language, Roma newspapers are also a necessity.
Kojadinovic pointed out that it is important for Serbia to reappear at the Moscow book fair this year, adding that Serbian publishers may have neglected what is perhaps the largest market – publications in the Russian language.
Talking about the Ministry’s plans, Kojadinovic said that the Serbs are facing a new task. Namely, now that the Saint Sava’s Temple is about to be completed, Belgrade should get an opera house worthy of a capital city, within the next five, ten or twenty years.
In the meantime, two concert halls will be built, and the existing ones will be adapted, the Minister said adding that the increasing stability in the country’s political and economic situation will enable quicker achievement of these goals and make Belgrade more attractive for tourists.
