Prime Minister Ana Brnabic today welcomed the unblocking of the Rectorate of the University of Belgrade, in the interest of employees and approximately 100,000 students.
Brnabic, in a statement to the Tanjug news agency, warned that the pressure on the rector Ivanka Popovic continues, and that, as she points out, she is being blackmailed, because those who kept the Rectorate in lockdown still expect the rector to act on their requests.
Brnabic said that the government is at disposal of the rector as the highest official of the University, as well as other rectors of state universities in Serbia.
We respect the autonomy of the university and we would never dare to tell any University official whether they have passed the exam or not, as this would be the gravest violation of the autonomy of an independent institution that is very important to our society, said the Prime Minister.
Rector Popovic will always have our respect the same way we respect the University, all its organs and its autonomy, Brnabic concluded.
