Ivana Dulic-Markovic
At a press conference in Novi Sad, Dulic-Markovic said she expects this year’s harvest to be successfully carried out despite bad weather and problems concerning reaching an agreement with millers about the price and storage of bread grain.
She reiterated that the Ministry’s support of 5,000 dinars per hectare of sown wheat will be given only to registered farming households, because the establishing of a direct payment mechanism to farmers’ accounts is part of Serbia’s long-term agrarian policy.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Danilo Golubovic said that registering farming households has proven to be a very useful measure, and added that 122,000 households have so far been registered in Serbia. These households have received and will keep receiving considerable aid from the state, he concluded.
Golubovic said that the price of bread grain will be completely satisfactory, because with incentives it will exceed ten dinars per kilogramme.
He stressed that the wheat yield from 547,000 sown hectares will meet domestic needs, adding that there should be some wheat left for exports as well.
