The Serbian Directorate for Water Resources, part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, in partnership with the Coca-Cola system in Serbia-Montenegro, organised today the closing celebration of the Danube Day in Belgrade.
The celebration of Danube Day helps raise the public’s awareness for the need to protect the Danube and its tributaries so that future generations can use the river and enjoy in it.
Danube Day is a large international festival which unites people from all over the Danube basin, stressing the need for the preservation of this precious natural resource.
The celebration began at 10 am in Zemun, and a photography exhibition of artifacts from the National Museum in Belgrade, the Historical Archives of Belgrade and the Museum of the City of Belgrade, was held along the quay.
Many visitors enjoyed in the music of the acoustic orchestra ‘Jokulatores’, and at about noon the Metro on water ship gave visitors a free one-hour ride on the Danube around the War Island.
The second part of the programme begins at 4 pm on Kalemegdan, at the Sava pedestrian zone (from the French Embassy to the ‘Victor’ statue) with an exhibition of works of the Faculty of Architecture and the Tourist organisations of Serbia and Belgrade, and the ‘Sindarela’ string quartet, which will also take part in the celebration.
The music groups ‘YU grupa’, ‘Ivana i grupa Negativ’ “Delca’ and ‘Inspektor Blaza’ will hold concerts as part of the closing celebration, starting at 8 pm, at the Nebojsa tower.
The celebration was supposed to take place on July 2, but was postponed due to bad weather.
