Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic laid the foundation stone today for the construction of apartments for members of the security forces in that city.
Brnabic said that the construction of these apartments is a way of expressing gratitude to the people who put their lives in jeopardy every day to keep the lives of other citizens safe and secure.
She said that the housing project also indicates that the government places great emphasis on the domestic construction industry, noting that at least 80% of the material must be of domestic origin during construction.
The Prime Minister expressed her great gratitude to the domestic construction companies that trusted the government, competed at the tender and thus obtained these jobs.
According to Brnabic, there has been no better time in the past 29 years than in the last two to three years, which is an indication of Serbia's growing economy and budget, all thanks to the reforms initiated by the Government in 2014.
Thanks to these reforms, she emphasized, we have the money we can invest in this project and conduct a policy of action, not words.
Brnabic said that the construction of apartments in Novi Sad is one of a number of significant projects that she is proud of, among which she emphasized the construction and reconstruction of the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina and the construction of the Biosens Institute.
She noted that 2 September is the deadline for submission of bids for the construction of the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, and invited all companies to participate in the tender.
Also, as she pointed out, the construction of the Biosens Institute is a major project that puts Novi Sad on the world map of excellence, digitization and information technologies.
Thanks to this, Novi Sad will be one of only 10 European centres of excellence. We are at the very top, which is our wits, the Prime Minister emphasized, adding that Serbia and the EU are investing €28 million in this project.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, and Provincial Prime Minister Igor Mirovic also attended the official commencement of the construction works.
