Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that in the last four years the state budget for science has been increased as much as 36 percent and will significantly increase next year, compared to 2019.

Speaking at a ceremony marking 100 days of work of the Serbian Science Fund, held at the Yugoslav Film Archives, Brnabic reiterated her belief that investment in science is the surest and most effective way of investing in one's own future.
This is the only chance to catch up with the world in the transformation of our economy so that it could become based on knowledge and innovation. At the heart of this transformation is science. That is why investment in science is investment in the future, the Prime Minister said.
The Fund today announced the first call for participation in the programme for excellent projects of young researchers, which will be open until 2 September 2019.
Brnabic underlined that marking 100 days of the Fund's work and announcing calls for participation in the programme is a great day for science and Serbia as a whole, adding that it is a great responsibility for everyone working in the Fund, because science in today's world makes the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful country.
The future of this country will depend in a large degree from what you are doing today. This is your chance to help Serbia and do not miss it, the Prime Minister stressed, and reminded that the Law on the Science Fund was the first law passed in this field in Serbia in 12 years.
Today is much more invested in science and education than in the past, Brnabic declared.
According to her, young scientists today have the opportunity to finance their ideas through several programmes, among which is the one for cooperation with the diaspora.
The Prime Ministers said that the next important step would be the adoption of a law on science and research, which will regulate the institutional financing of researchers.
It is extremely important for their work and existence, and we want the best to stay in Serbia, that they work and create here, she said, and underlined that Serbia is changing and that everyone in the world recognises it.
We want to create a country where people will stay to live and where young people can fulfil their dreams. That is a Serbia I believe in, Brnabic concluded.
