Serbia can be winner of Fourth industrial revolution

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic pointed out tonight in London that Serbia can become one of the winners of the Fourth industrial revolution, if it gets prepared for challenges and understands the opportunities that open up, invests in reforms and, above all, create a favourable environment.

Speaking in the lecture "Winning in the Fourth Industrial Revolution", held at the London Business School, Brnabic pointed out that the Serbian government, headed by her, has worked to create a favourable environment so that the minds similar to Nikola Tesla would remain in the country and get a chance to recognize Serbia as a winner in the industrial revolution.

According to her, many people fear that the Fourth industrial revolution will close many jobs due to automation, and it is unclear what will happen to institutions.

I am an optimist and I see that there are some challenges, but I see that the Fourth industrial revolution offers many more chances, especially for countries like Serbia, the Prime Minister said.

Brnabic explained that there are two key challenges to which we need to give answers. The first is education, or what kind of education system is to be established for the future, and the second challenge is how to change the institutions, because the whole processes will change.

If we respond adequately to these two challenges, we can become one of the winners of the Fourth industrial revolution, regardless of the size of the country, the economy or where we are today, Brnabic underlined.

Our IT sector and creative industry are the fastest growing sector in the Serbian economy, Brnabic said and assessed that this sector will be something that will stimulate our economy in the future.

According to her, the government, after reducing unemployment, began to think about investments in the creative industry.

The Prime Minister stated that since January Serbia has been one of the most competitive countries in terms of taxes for companies that invest in the creative industry.

Brnabic stressed that Serbia is accustomed to change, to unpredictability, and that it is our advantage in the Fourth industrial revolution.

Following the lecture, Brnabic said in responding to the question of Serbia's position on the European Union, that she sees the Union, first of all, as a successful peace-building project, as well as a project that brings greater market and cooperation.

Answering the question about China's investments in Serbia, the Prime Minister pointed out that China is a strong partner, which does not call into question the European road of our country.
