Honorary Committee for Novi Sad 2021 - European Capital of Culture constituted

Belgrade, 25 April 2019

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic chaired today the first, constitutive session of the Honorary Committee of the Foundation "Novi Sad 2021 - European Capital of Culture".

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Prime Minister of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic and Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vucevic, along with Brnabic, were elected as its members.

Director of the Foundation Nemanja Milenkovic and Programme Director Dusan Kalicanin presented to the members of the Honorary Board the results of the project so far, as well as all the plans that include several hundred projects in the field of culture, as well as infrastructure activities.

The Rules of Procedure of the Honorary Committee were adopted at the meeting.

Novi Sad is the first European capital of culture among the candidate countries for EU membership. The project Novi Sad 2021 was designed as a platform for the development of the cultural and creative potentials of the city, which in the coming years will aim to strengthen cultural vitality, enable urban regeneration and improve the international reputation and tourist offer of Novi Sad, as well as of the whole of Serbia.

The projects that the City of Novi Sad will present in 2021, as the European capital of culture, are divided into several thematic units with the goal of a further development of cultural programmes in the territory of the City and development of cultural policy.
