The enrolment of pupils in the first grade of primary school that start on 1 September 1 this year will be considerably facilitated, given that the schools will obtain a birth certificate and proof of residence for every pupil, which has so far been the responsibility of the parents.
The enrolment of pupils in the first grade in Serbia started today, and parents should only bring a doctor's certificate and a certificate of completion of the preschool programme.
Brnabic said that another unnecessary and burdensome administrative procedure has been abolished today, which shows that public administration is in the service of citizens.
She announced that in the next two years the state will work on the creation of a unique information system of education, which will enable that all data on children during their education be in one place, starting from preschool, primary and secondary schools, university and then the employment.
According to her, this system will also allow to establish how much the state invests in education, how quickly that repays to it and whether it educates the staff needed for the economy and science.
Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarcevic said that over the past few years more than 1,000 citizens have used the opportunity to enrol their children in the first grade via e-Inscription.
Director of the Serbian government’s Office for Information Technologies and E-Government Mihailo Jovanovic said that the e-Inscription system works in all 1,229 primary schools in Serbia.
He pointed out that the new electronic system, in addition to obtaining data, enables registration of children enrolled in the first grade, which is the beginning of the future unique information system of education.
Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ruzic announced that the next step in the field of digitisation is the establishment of the Central Population Register, which will gather data on citizens from 13 different official records.
The plan is that this central database start operating on 1 September 2020, and it will allow to all of us together in the government to set up new electronic services for citizens and digitise each process, Ruzic underlined.
