Speaking at a press conference last night, on the occasion of a seminar aimed at acquainting Italian businesspeople with investment opportunities in Serbia’s agriculture sector, Landi welcomed the improving economic relations between the two countries.
The seminar, which kicked off yesterday, is part of preparations for the event entitled “Italy in Belgrade 2005”, due to be held in October this year and aiming to gather a large number of businesspeople from both countries.
Landi said that over 680 Serbian firms have applied for participation in the event, of which some 150 are from the agriculture industry.
Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management Ivana Dulic-Markovic, who also spoke at the press conference, said that Italian firms have shown interest in Serbia’s meat and milk production and farm machinery.
Deputy Minister of International Economic Relations Vlatko Sekulovic said that Italian contingents are already in Serbia’s food sector, recalling that sugar firm Sfir has invested more than €25 million in sugar plants in Senta and Nova Crnja.
