Brnabic underlined that the working groups include representatives of institutions, companies and civil society who understand the importance of helping and giving and who will work on concrete proposals for improving the legal framework, based on expert analysis and research.
However, along the support to socially responsible behaviour in the field of philanthropy and donations, she singled out the payment of taxes, as well as the care for employees in companies as the socially most responsible behaviour.
At the session held in the Serbian government, the results of the National Giving Day were presented, together with the results of a research on public opinion about philanthropy, on donations from the diaspora and the key findings on giving in 2018. The research was funded by the USAID.
Co-chair of the Philantrophy Council Veran Matic said that it is encouraging that more and more Serbian citizens from the diaspora offer support to their mother country. He presented data that a fifth of their total number, as much as 21 percent, made donations in Serbia last year, while 46 percent are ready to donate to a foundation in Serbia in which they have greatest trust.
According to a report presented by the Philanthropy Council on the results achieved since the previous session, the most important achievements are the establishment of the National Giving Day, the Race of Goodness, Philanthropy Festival, National Philanthropy Conference and the Corporate Social Responsibility Forum – CSR Forum.
