Media cooperation between Serbia and Ukraine should be revived

Serbian Minister of Culture Dragan Kojadinovic talked today with Ukrainian officials about cooperation of the national academies and media of Serbia and Ukraine.

In a telephone statement to the Tanjug news agency, Kojadinovic said that he was satisfied that his visit will serve to revive cultural cooperation.
Director of the National Library of Serbia Sreten Ugricic gave a lecture attended by directors of several Kiev libraries, and a meeting with representatives of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine was also held.
Although the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts does not fall under the competence of the Ministry of Culture, we discussed in principle the desire to establish cooperation between the two national academies, Kojadinovic explained.
According to him, the talks also covered media cooperation given that it is high time that information that Serbia and Ukraine broadcast about each other stopped being the coverage of incidents only.
He said that it was very interesting to see how culture works in a transition country, which is changing the approach in many fields.
The hosts also made sure that Serbian guests get to know Kiev better so that the Serbian delegation will visit the Ukrainian capital’s cultural monuments, said Kojadinovic and added that he has invited Ukrainian Minister of Culture Oksana Bilozir to visit Belgrade.
