Prime Minister Ana Brnabic visited today the building of the National Theatre in Belgrade in order to get acquainted with the situation in one of the most important institutions of culture in the country.

Brnabic told reporters after making a tour of the theatre that one of her priorities is to create the best conditions for work in that institution.
Just as we have resolved the decades-old problem of the National Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, we will work together with the team of the National Theatre, the Prime Minister said.
She estimated that much more funds should be invested in the National Theatre so that the conditions of work could match the importance of this institution and that the state will work on that in the coming period.
The Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to change the equipment which is over 30 years old, such as washing machines, to solve the problem of leakage and moisture in the basements, changing rooms and rehearsal rooms.
We have been working for some time already to solve the problems that the ballet dancers have with their retirement and change of generations, and I hope that we will solve this in the coming weeks, Brnabic said.
She pointed out that the government, for the first time in cooperation with the Public Investment Office, set aside €20 million for infrastructure in the field of culture alone, adding that her idea is to help the National Theatre from these funds.
In addition to creating better working conditions in the National Theatre in Belgrade, the Prime Minister mentioned the completion and opening of the Bora Stankovic Theatre in Vranje, the construction of a faculty of music and a new concert hall in Belgrade.
She said that all works at the Bora Stankovic Theatre should be completed by February, after which the equipping would follow. Brnabic voiced hope that this theatre will be opened in September.
Over the last few months a good spot for the faculty of music has been searched for, she said and added that the proper location will have been found and technical documentation completed by the end of term of this government.
Speaking about the concert hall, the Prime Minister said that acoustics study should be completed by May and voiced hope that a tender for a conceptual design of the building at Usce will be announced until the end of February.
