Czech support to Serbia's European integration very important

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Serbia Tomas Kuchta about her upcoming official visit to that country at the invitation of Prime Minister Andrej Babis and about bilateral relations of the two countries.

Brnabic highlighted the importance of the support that the Czech Republic offers to Serbia on its European path and of the reforms implemented by the Serbian government.

She referred to the current situation caused by Pristina's unilateral measure to introduce a 100 per cent tax on goods from Serbia, which severely violated the CEFTA agreement and jeopardised the survival and security of the Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija.

The Prime Minister added that despite all the obstacles, Serbia continues to call for peace and expressed her belief that EU partners will exert additional pressure on Pristina in order to create conditions to continue the dialogue and find a compromise solution.

Kuchta stressed that the Czech Republic sees Serbia as a European country with great economic potential and that the forthcoming visit of the Serbian Prime Minister to the Czech Republic will be a good opportunity to promote overall bilateral cooperation.

Brnabic expressed her satisfaction over the fact that she will have an opportunity to meet with the highest Czech officials during the visit and underlined that it is an important signal that the visit comes in the year when the hundred years of diplomatic relations between Czechoslovakia and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes are celebrated.
