Innovation, IT development opportunity of Serbia

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke in Lisbon today as part of an interview on the scene with German ARD journalist Markus Preiss on the challenges and results achieved by Serbia in the field of the development of technology and creative industries and the potentials of new technologies for economic development.

Brnabic, who participates in the Web Summit in Lisbon, said that digitalisation and education are key priorities of the government, and pointed out that Serbia has already been recognised as one of the leaders in digitisation.

The fourth industrial revolution gives us a chance to make a breakthrough, said the Prime Minister, adding that the three key pillars of digitisation are eGovernment, education and economy.

In particular, she stressed that the most important transformation from an economy based on investment into an economy based on innovation, knowledge, entrepreneurship, research and development.

She pointed out that Serbia has much less problems with brain drain than before, because this government is taking care of the needs of young people.

The Prime Minister stressed that Serbia is a country that prides itself on companies such as Nordeus and Seven Bridges, and the country that has the leading European Centre for Excellence in Digital Agriculture - Novi Sad Biosens.

These are all the successes of young innovators and talented entrepreneurs who had the courage and clear vision and the government of Serbia will always support such ideas, Brnabic said, adding that Serbia should become a member of CERN by the end of the year.
