Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met today with Deputy of the German Bundestag Peter Beyer and expressed satisfaction with constant strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation of the two countries, particularly in the field of the economy.
Brnabic pointed out that the increase in German investments and in the number of German companies, which currently employ around 50,000 workers in Serbia, testify that the reforms we are implementing give results and give confidence to investors.
Regarding the reforms, the Prime Minister stated that Serbia is committed to strengthening the rule of law, as a pillar of the progress of every organised and responsible state and the basis for further economic development.
She stressed that when making the constitutional amendments, Serbia has respected all procedures and adopted the recommendations of the Venice Commission, in order to make changes in accordance with best practices and deliver the expected results.
She underlined that Serbia’s goal is to get an independent and responsible judiciary, in the best interest of the state and its citizens.
The interlocutors agreed that the media play a very important role in the implementation of reforms in Serbia, and the Prime Minister expressed her expectation that the continuous dialogue between representatives of the Serbian government and media associations will lead to the adoption of a media strategy that will completely regulate this area.
Brnabic expressed her gratitude to representatives of the OSCE and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for supporting and assisting in the preparation of this important document.
She assessed that the issue of the status of Kosovo-Metohija is the only point of discord in our bilateral relations, and that Serbia is fully committed to normalising relations with Pristina and reaching a compromise and sustainable solution.
Serbia highly appreciates the support of Germany to regional cooperation, Brnabic said, and highlighted the importance that the Berlin process has for the stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans.
The Deputy of the German Bundestag stressed that Germany strongly supports the European integration of Serbia and underlined that Serbia has a reliable partner in Germany and support on its road to the European Union.
