The visit to the reconstructed part of the hospital, which was destroyed in a great fire in 2009, also featured Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank Rolf Wenzel and Director of the Public Investment Management Office Marko Blagojevic.
On this occasion Brnabic said that the Serbian government, through the Public Investment Management Office, allocated more than €14 million for renovation of the "Dr Dragisa Misovic" hospital, specifically €3.4 million for the reconstruction and €10.5 million for the procurement of equipment.
The Prime Minister said that most of the work was done in less than a year and underlined that the reconstruction of this institution confirms that the modernisation of the healthcare system is one of the priorities of this government, which once again showed that it is completing the projects it started.
The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to Turkey and the United States of America for donations that helped the renovation works on two floors of the hospital, as well as to the Council of Europe Development Bank, which provided the bulk of funds for reconstruction.
Minister Loncar pointed out that today's opening of the fully-reconstructed "Dr Dragisa Misovic" hospital is one more confirmation that investments in health care today are bigger than ever.
He said that RSD 4.2 billion was set aside from the budget of the Ministry of Health for the building and equipment of health institutions this and last year, whereas for example, in 2007 and 2008 this sum totalled RSD 1.7 billion.
