Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said tonight that in her speech to be held before the UN General Assembly will show the new face of Serbia, the results achieved, but will aslo address the unavoidable Kosovo topic.
Brnabic gave a statement to Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) from New York, where she is taking part in the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly, stressing that she wrote the speech herself, because she wants citizens to know how important it is to present Serbia in the best possible way.
I wanted to show a new face of Serbia, all that we have done in the last four years, all the reforms that we have implemented and the results we have now, the Prime Minister said.
She pointed out that our main foreign policy priorities will be: regional stability and European integration, as well as internal goals - digitization, support for education and young people in Serbia.
Brnabic reiterated that Kosovo will be the theme of her speech, because it is an indispensable topic.
This is something that is extremely important to say in the UN; I think that what was done ten years ago was not fair to Serbia, that this was not in line with international standards, international rules of the game, international law, but we are grown up, we want to go on, we want a compromise, because we want peace, security and a secure future for the generations ahead of us, stressed the Prime Minister of Serbia.
The Prime Minister, who today met with US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, said it is extremely important that the initiative for the meeting came from the US Secretary of State himself.
It is a great thing that the initiative for a meeting with the Serbian delegation that I lead is coming from the US Department of Commerce, she said, adding that the meeting was excellent, and the topics included both economic and political ones.
As she pointed out, this was not the case at a meeting in Belgrade, which is another sign that we have a closer relationship.
Asked whether Behtel will be doing infrastructure projects in Serbia, Brnabic said that it was discussed.
We have had serious talks for several months behind and I am greatly grateful to the whole team of the government and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in that they conduct these talks, and the agreement will ultimately depend on the offer, explained the Prime Minister.
We need to be careful, we have to be responsible with the taxpayers' money. So we expect from such a big and significant company to offer us a good deal, said Brnabic.
As she expects a meeting with US Secretary of State Wess Michelle, she noted that the central topic of the talks will be Kosovo-Metohija and talks with Pristina.
According to Brnabic, Serbia is doing its best, it behaves responsibly, smartly, boldly, while on the other hand we have Pristina that has none of these characteristics.
Brnabic pointed out that in American policy towards Serbia there are no more red lines and that this is the biggest possible shift, which could not be imagined only eight or nine months ago.
She reiterated her great gratitude to the new US administration and all the people in the administration of President Trump and pointed out the great role of President Aleksander Vucic and all that he did in the last year to show that this new face of Serbia, which, she pointed out, shows the face of Serbia that is brave, responsible and strong enough to be ready for compromises.
