Prime Minister Ana Brnabic assessed during today's talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Communities and Defence of Cape Verde Luis Filipe Tavares that the two countries have been traditionally fostering friendly relations and mutual respect based on which they can build and improve economic, cultural and other forms of cooperation and deepen political relations.

Brnabic expressed her gratitude to the Republic of Cape Verde on the firm stance not to recognise the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, stressing that this is the most important national issue for Serbia.
Brnabic also expressed gratitude for the support given to Serbia in gaining the status of an associated observer in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries in July this year and expressed the belief that Serbia and Cape Verde will work closely together in that organisation.
Tavares recalled the friendly relations of the two countries from the times of the former Yugoslavia, adding that his country has always respected the courage and determination of Serbia, the commitment of our people to our own state and its freedom of spirit.
He expressed conviction that Cape Verde will support Serbia in the international organisations in which it has membership.
Brnabic said that she is very satisfied with the fact that five citizens of Cape Verde study in Serbia and added that the Serbian government will continue to offer scholarships to students from that country within the programme "The World in Serbia", stating that this is the best way to bring together the two cultures and peoples.
The interlocutors agreed that the opening of honorary consulates of Serbia and Cape Verde would be of great importance for the further development of the bilateral relations of the two countries.
