Serbia open to cooperation with world’s leading IT companies

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met today with Frame's founder Nikola Bozinovic and co-founder and CEO of Nutanix Dheeraj Pandey, the two leading companies in the field of cloud software. US-Serbian start-up Frame was sold three weeks ago to Nutanix for $165 million, and its founder Nikola Bozinovic became company’s vice president.

Nutanix is the fastest-growing IT company in the world, it was founded in 2009 and is one of the most renowned leaders in cloud computing. Its estimated worth stands at around $10 billion.

The start-up Frame was founded in 2012 with headquarters in San Francisco and it employs around 50 engineers in Belgrade and Nis. Frame has managed to develop its own software that allows users to transfer their applications from PCs and certain software tools to the cloud - a virtual database.

Representatives of Nutanix, headed by CEO Dheeraj Pandey, visited Belgrade to get acquainted with the development team of the start-up Frame and to inform the Prime Minister about their further development plans in Serbia. They said they are satisfied with the quality of workforce in Serbia and underlined that their centre will be one of the most important for the development of their products in the future.

CEO Pandey said: "Our goal is to expand Frame’s existing team into a European development centre of Nutanix in Serbia. In the next stage of growth, we will start primarily with domestic engineers, but we will also develop a wider parallel organisation. Also, we plan to bring to Belgrade people from different parts of Europe and the world to work for Nutanix," Pandey added.

The founder of the company Frame, Nikola Bozinovic, pointed out that "Serbia has huge potential for the development of the IT industry. We aim is to raise standards of doing business internationally from Serbia."

Brnabic pointed out that Serbia is open and ready to cooperate with the world's leading IT companies and expressed satisfaction with the fact that Nutanix chose our country for investment and expansion of its development centre.

"Our ICT industry needs partners such as Nutanix to help us respond to challenges of the fourth industrial revolution and encourage other domestic ICT companies to develop innovations," Brnabic said. She added that Frame is a good example for all local IT companies of how successful companies worth more than $150 million can be created through persistent work and know-how.

"Digitization is one of the key priorities of the Serbian government and it represents our chance to join the most developed economies," the Prime Minister underlined.
