Long-term normalisation of relations between Belgrade, Pristina necessary

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic assessed that now is a moment to get out of the frozen Kosovo-Metohija conflict and take a path that the nations that solve problems and thus become winners would take.

In a statement to the Tanjug agency, Brnabic sent a call to all stakeholders of political and public life for a responsible attitude to this issue, as well as to all citizens – to support President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic in an effort to find a solution for Kosovo and the future of the country.

Finding a solution to the long-term normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations is undoubtedly the most important political issue for the future of our country and our people, the Prime Minister assessed.

She said that by opening the internal dialogue and through difficult, yet constructive talks with the most important world leaders, Vucic showed courage, the highest possible degree of political responsibility and leadership in an effort to solve the difficult and emotional issue that has been burdening our society for decades.

Brnabic reiterated that Kosovo-Metohija is not a one-time issue, and must not be used for political abuse.

However, for some time now, it has turned into the subject of daily politicking, the Prime Minister said.

If the period behind us is marked by unconstructive debates, we still have time to show full responsibility and political maturity, she said.

Brnabic appealed to all participants in political and public life to act as responsible individuals, aware that the solution to this issue would mark the future of generations.

At the moment when the relationship of great powers towards Serbia changes and when our voice is heard much more than a few years ago, it is time to show the highest unity on this topic, the Prime Minister said, adding that the entire society should move towards a solution, head from the past and turn to the future we are creating now.

This means that citizens are not offered solutions that sound good, and which, unfortunately, do not have any foundation in the reality and political moment in which we are, explained the Prime Minister.

Brnabic once again called on citizens to support the President of the Republic, to look together for the future, primarily because of the generations to come, but also because of the current generations, which can stop a series of bad and losing decisions made in the not so distant past.
