Government to help three projects in Prokuplje

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced today that three projects planned for Prokuplje in the coming period will be supported by the government of Serbia in order for the city to "get on its feet".

Brnabic said after the talks with the president of that municipality, Aleksandar Simonovic, the city leadership and the visit of the Health Centre in Prokuplje, that the most important project is the construction of the Nis-Pristina highway, then the construction of a new industrial zone in that town, as well as the project of relocating the General Hospital.

The Nis-Pristina highway will change the perspective of this region and will be important for the entire Toplica region. As for the relocation of the General Hospital into the Health Centre, this implies moving into a building of 30,000 square metres, that will be financed from the budget of Serbia in the amount of RSD 2.5 billion, the Prime Minister pointed out.

She added that in parallel with these projects, they are also working on energy efficiency, as well as creating better conditions in the Health Centre and the General Hospital, which is why RSD 95 million were invested in the past two years.

We will continue in this direction. I see a healthy prospect for Prokuplje and I hope that in a couple of years, we will all together see that all this leads to Prokuplje getting to its feet, Brnabic said.

The Prime Minister congratulated all citizens of Prokuplje for the status of the town in June this year, and reiterated that she is certain that in the next few years this city will be one of the leaders in Serbia.

According to her, the current government inherited the municipality with three problems, of which the first indebtedness was more than RSD 2.5 billion, the second largest excessive employment in local self-government, and the third that 52% of the local self-government budget went for salaries.

Today, the situation in Prokuplje is much different, the budget is liquid and much less employees in the City Administration, she stressed.

Brnabic pointed out that the Serbian government is there to support Prokuplje, with the remark that RSD 140 million were allocated for the repayment of some debts of local self-government from the current budget reserve.

Brnabic and Ljajic also visited today the factory "Simpo Sik" in Kuršumlija and the Special Hospital for the rehabilitation "Zubor" in Kursumlijska Banja.

The Prime Minister said that tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in Serbia, especially spa tourism, where in the first six months of this year 253,000 visits were registered, and that majority of visitors are from Serbia.

Also, she pointed out that Kursumlija with three spas, along with Djavolja Varos and Radan Mountain, have enormous potential for tourism.

What will help us all is better infrastructure and infrastructure connectivity. The biggest project and news is that we will start the construction of the so-called highway Nis-Pristina-Tirana-Durres in the year 2019, and next year we will start the first phase of Nis-Plocnik, said the Prime Minister.

Brnabic stated that once the first phase is completed, it will be much easier to get to Prokuplje and Kursumlija even more easily and then it will be easier to bring investors, as it will be easier for small and medium-sized companies to expand and connect with the whole of Serbia and to export.

Speaking about the factory "Simpo Shik", she pointed out that this is one of the things that must be solved, that is, that it must be ensured that the factory operates in a sustainable way, to continue production and find a strategic partner, who will invest in equipment renewal , in order to be competitive with all companies operating in Serbia as well as with foreign companies.
