Cooperation in field of economy to improve relations with Belgium

Belgrade, 9 August 2018

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, received today on a farewell visit Ambassador of Belgium to Serbia Leo D’aes, to whom she expressed gratitude for the successful cooperation and personal contribution to the improvement of the bilateral relations of our two countries.

Brnabic assessed the trend of improving political relations with Belgium, especially after the visit of Prime Minister Charles Mitchell to Serbia.

D’aes emphasised that Belgium will continue to support Serbia's Eurointegration and provides technical support in the areas of chapters 23 and 24 on the rule of law, the judiciary and the fight against organised crime.

He pointed out that in the fight against organised crime there is a successful cooperation between the police of Serbia and Belgium.

The officials agreed that cooperation in the field of economy is the key to faster relations between the two countries, and expressed the expectation that in the future, new Belgian investments in Serbia will be implemented, following the example of multinational company "Delhaise", that has successfully operated in Serbia for a longer period years.

The Prime Minister conveyed gratitude to the Belgian ambassador for his commitment to creating stronger ties between the two countries, and wished him happiness in the future on a professional and personal level.
