Support to development of Serbian start-up companies

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met in New York with representatives of the Serbian Entrepreneurs Association, founded by entrepreneurs of Serbian origin in 2016 in the Silicon Valley to support the development of the Serbian start-up ecosystem around the world.

The meeting looked at the work done so far and the possibility for members of the Association, through their experience, contacts and networking, to help the development of the network of technological, IT and start-up companies from Serbia, as well as to other entrepreneurs in the diaspora.
Brnabic thanked them for their efforts so far, saying that their initiative is the best example to which other successful business people from the diaspora should look up to.
Knowledge is a key value for society's progress. That is why we appreciate your efforts and the fact that you recognised the potentials of your colleagues in Serbia, the Prime Minister pointed out, adding that this helps IT start-ups in Serbia to market their ideas and innovations more easily on the global market.
Scientific research and new technologies stimulate the competitiveness of our economy. Our goal is to keep the domestic economy in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution and for it to be based on knowledge and innovations, Brnabic pointed out.
The Association of Serbian Entrepreneurs is a non-profit non-governmental organisation. Currently, it has 75 members - founders of companies, investors, engineers and CEOs of start-ups. The association has five branches - in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Belgrade and Novi Sad.
The first major campaign that the Association presented to the Serbian public was the bringing of the Google delegation to Serbia in November 2017.
Owing to this initiative, it is expected that Google Play begin to function at full capacity in Serbia, and that Google Launchpad Accelerator be launched, which is a six-month support programme for developers, in which companies are offered cooperation with Google engineers, experts from the Silicon Valley and the world's best mentors from the IT field.
In Europe, Google Launchpad is only available in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
In continuation of her visit to the United States of America, the Prime Minister will meet in Washington with congressmen Ted Poe and Emanuel Cleaver, co-presidents of the Serbian caucus, as well as with senators Jeanne Shaheen and James Risch, who are members of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
