Support of Georgia to territorial integrity, sovereignty of Serbia

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic met in Tbilisi today with Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bahtadze at the beginning of her first official visit to that country.
Brnabic, who is the first Prime Minister of Serbia on an official visit to Georgia, and Bahtadze said during the talks that the relations of the two countries are good and traditionally friendly and that in the coming period they will work on intensifying cooperation in different areas.
Brnabic stressed that Serbia is interested in strengthening dialogue with Georgia at all levels, and assessed that the principle of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is a good basis for improving relations between the two countries.
We are grateful to Georgia for not recognising Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence, as well as for its firm position not to support the admission of so-called Kosovo into international organisations such as UNESCO, she said.
Brnabic and Bahtadze agreed that a good political cooperation between Serbia and Georgia should be accompanied by more intensive economic cooperation, with the Georgian prime minister honouring Prime Minister Brnabic for a successful fiscal consolidation in Serbia.
The modest exchange of Serbia and Georgia in the first five months of this year was slightly higher than $2 million, while in 2017 it amounted to only $7 million.
Serbia wants much better economic cooperation with Georgia, because its present level does not match the potentials of the two countries, Brnabic said.
In order to improve economic cooperation, a visit of Serbian businessmen to Georgia is planned for autumn.

The Open Government Partnership is the largest international initiative in the field of open administration, in which Serbia has been participating since 2012.
Participants from more than 90 countries in the world, including Serbia, will present results in the field of open administration.
