Strengthening political and economic cooperation between Serbia, Belarus

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke on the margins of the Summit of China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe in Sofia with First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matushevsky on improving cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and it was concluded that relations between Serbia and Belarus are friendly and with no open issues.
Serbia is extremely grateful for the strong support that Belarus is giving to preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, said the Prime Minister.
Brnabic and Matushevsky estimated that Serbia and Belarus have an interest in strengthening cooperation in many areas, and above all in the economy.
In 2017, the volume of foreign trade of the two countries amounted to $103.5 million, an increase of 30.2% compared to 2016, while in the first five months of 2018, the volume of foreign trade increased by 5.5% down in relation to the same period of the previous year and amounted to $43.8 million, which indicates that foreign trade continues to grow.
The officials also discussed cooperation in the field of agriculture, science and education.
Brnabic and Matushevsky concluded that the cooperation between China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe is an extremely important mechanism of cooperation that will further strengthen and accelerate the overall economic development of all participating countries.
