Serbia will not forget innocent victims of Kosovo conflict

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of kidnapping of Serbian miners of the Belicevac mine in Kosovo-Metohija, whose fate has still not been cleared up, that Serbia wants a compromise in resolving the issue of Kosovo-Metohija, but that it will not forget its victims.

Brnabic told the Tanjug agency that today we are remembering with great sorrow all the innocent victims of the conflict in our southern province, and that that reminds us of the obligation to be consistent in the fight for finding the truth about the Serbian victims in Kosovo-Metohija.
She stated that according to data of the Serbian government’s Commission for Missing Persons, approximately 570 persons of Serbian nationality are still missing.
The families of the missing deserve to learn the truth about their loved ones, who ended up as victims of kidnapping in their homes or workplaces, the Prime Minister underlined.
Brnabic said that state representatives participate in the observation of anniversaries of all mass crimes and commemorations to those killed and went missing in Kosovo-Metohija.
The Prime Minister underlined that it is important to emphasise on this occasion once more that the discovery of mass graves with victims of crimes of Albanian extremists is systematically prevented in Kosovo-Metohija.
Instead of getting the truth about the missing, we are confronted with intensified pressures and more frequent attacks on the Serbian population, returnees, pilgrims, priests, even women and children, she warned, adding that around fifteen such incidents happened in the last month and a half alone.
She underlined that Serbia will protect its citizens in Kosovo-Metohija through cooperation and communication with international partners as our country respects international law and justice.
