Serbia, Austria to strengthen cooperation

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Austrian Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz assessed today in Vienna that the bilateral relations of the two countries are at a very high level.
Brnabic, who met with Kurz at the Europe Vahau Forum, pointed out that Serbia is committed to further strengthening of cooperation, especially economic.
Austria's support in the process of European integration is extremely important for Serbia, she stressed.
On 1 July this year, Austria will take over presidency of the EU Council. We expect the continuation of Austria's support in the process of integration of Serbia and the Western Balkans into the EU, the Prime Minister said.
Brnabic pointed out that Serbia is committed to strengthening peace and stability and further intensifying regional cooperation.
Cooperation within the Berlin Process is particularly significant for Serbia, as it includes priority projects in the region - economy, energy, infrastructure and youth cooperation, she said.
The Prime Minister added that Serbia is also grateful to Austria for contributing to stability in Kosovo and Metohija, through participation in KFOR and EULEX missions.
Austria is one of the most important economic partners of Serbia and one of the biggest investors in the Serbian economy.
Last year, the trade exchange amounted to €997.8 million, while Austrian investments amounted to €251.3 million.
In 2017, Austria was the second largest investor in the Serbian economy. Austria is also an important partner in environmental and agricultural projects, especially in the areas of waste and wastewater treatment.
The Prime Minister pointed out that new Austrian investments are important for Serbia, especially in infrastructure, modernisation of industry, energy and renewable energy sources.
Brnabic and Kurz also discussed the current security issues related to migration.
