The total nominal value of the agreement is around €1,461,508,000.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, CeO of Vinci Concessions and Chairman of Vinci Airports Nicolas Notebaert, Massimo Bruzzo from Vinci Airports Serbia and Acting Director-General of the Nikola Tesla airport Sasa Vlaisavljevic. The event was also attended by French Ambassador to Serbia Frederic Mondoloni.
Brnabic voiced hope that once the Belgrade airport starts working at full capacity, the tourism potential will be the tremendous, which will further boost the growth of the economy, GDP and the reduction in unemployment.
Our goal this year is to reduce the unemployment rate below 10%, which is why we continue to work on unburdening the economy, such as increasing the non-taxable labour and tax incentives for beginners in business, the Prime Minister explained.
She pointed out that, in order for Serbia’s development to continue, all its parts must develop. The economy at the local level and the policy focused on projects significant for the local community are the engine of Serbia's future progress, she noted.
That is why I see the arrival of a successful and powerful French company as a good sign and an encouragement to local governments to be more efficient. The example of Vinci Airports and the Belgrade airport shows that there are investors who want to participate in projects in Serbia through the model of public-private partnership, which so far has been almost completely unused, Brnabic said.
Mihajlovic stated that this is a great day for Serbia and Belgrade, as well as for the airport itself, and pointed out that the goal is to make this airport a transport corridor and a hub of this part of Europe.
She underlined that this agreement is the result of work of the last few years on the development of infrastructure.
The concession agreement means further development of the Nikola Tesla airport, and will contribute to the strengthening of the relations between Serbia and France, Mihajlovic said, noting that a concession fee will be paid every year.
French Ambassador to Serbia Frederic Mondoloni expressed confidence that the concession agreement for the Belgrade airport will attract many other French companies to come to Serbia, and said that currently there are around 100 French companies doing business in Serbia that employ 10,000 workers.
