At the event held at the Belgrade City Hall, Brnabic congratulated the Belgrade Dance Festival on the occasion of 15 years of successful work.
She said that she was particularly pleased that the performances within the festival are played in Novi Sad, which is an important contribution to the decentralisation of culture.
According to Brnabic, there can be no sustainable development without culture, without cultivating and supporting creativity, individuality and education.
She underlined that culture and creative industries have enormous potential for economic development, foreign exchange inflows, employment, re-branding of Serbia, development of tourism and cultural diplomacy.
They are especially important for the promotion of Serbia in the world and the presentation of a new and different Serbia. This will be the topic of the conference on creative industries that will be held tomorrow in Belgrade and which will bring together our top experts, Brnabic said.
Papaioannou said that he is honoured to be presented with such a worthy award.
