Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that it is not true that Serbia has no system for preventing money laundering and financing of terrorism, saying that the report of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) does not truthfully reflect the state of affairs in our country.
In her address at the closing ceremony of the Kopaonik Business Forum, Brnabic explained in connection with the report of the FATF that some standards are used in that report with which even many EU countries do not agree.
Serbia was placed on the FATF monitoring list, and some media, but also some politicians said that it is on the "black list" together with the countries involved in money laundering, that do not prevent it and give money to terrorist organisations.
The Prime Minister said that this is not true and that Serbia has already made progress in that area and adopted six systemic laws that better regulate this area.
In addition, we have implemented 35 of the 40 recommendations from that report and we are the only country in the region that has prosecuted and sentenced to final verdicts both natural and legal persons for the criminal offence of money laundering, she underlined.
