Brnabic is on a working visit to Brussels at the invitation of the EU High Representative as a guest at a working dinner organised by Mogherini for the prime ministers of the Western Balkan countries, which will also be attended by EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn.
In her meeting with Mogherini, Brnabic said that full EU membership was a key foreign policy priority for Serbia.
She stressed that Serbia at the same time remains ready to support all Western Balkan countries in their efforts to become EU members, although we believe that everyone should go at their own pace.
The Prime Minister said that the message of European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker is extremely important for Serbia that Serbia and Montenegro are leaders in the Western Balkan region in the process of European integration, and that the strategy for successful accession of Serbia and Montenegro to the EU will be adopted by 2025.
This is a positive sign for the whole region, Brnabic said, adding that only a stable region of the Western Balkans contributes to the stability of the EU, which is of key importance nowadays, since without stability there is no development.
Brnabic expressed her hope that in the first half of 2018, during the Bulgarian EU Council Presidency, new negotiating chapters will be opened, as we have achieved significant results in the negotiation process.
She added that Serbia pays special attention in reform-wise most demanding chapters 23 and 24, but also that implementation of the reforms is primarily because of the citizens of Serbia and the quality of life in Serbia, and they will definitely lead us to become a society that is ready to contribute to the European family of peoples.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the continuation of the dialogue with Pristina is essential and that Serbia hopes that the dialogue, under the auspices of the EU, will be intensified.
For Serbia, it is particularly important to ensure the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities and to implement all the agreements reached in the previous period, Brnabic underlined.
She reminded her that today is 1,704th day from the moment when in Brussels Dialogue, Pristina, with the mediation of the EU, assumed the obligation to form the Community of Serb Municipalities.
Mogherini stressed that the next year is crucial for the European perspective of the region and that the acceleration of this process is one of her priorities.
Brnabic pointed out that it is important for Serbia that the role and function of the EULEX mission is not reduced, because the support of this mission to the judiciary, the police and the implementation of the Brussels Dialogue is of great importance to the non-Albanian population in Kosovo-Metohija.
Mogherini organises a working dinner in the format of the "West Balkan six" at the highest level in order to strengthen cooperation and exchange views on the most current topics in the region.
The format of the "West Balkan Six" is part of the "Berlin Process".
