Prime Minister Ana Brnabic opened today the first meeting of the Ministerial Team for the Prevention of Peer Violence, which was formed on the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, tasked with the prevention of this type of violence.
The main task of the Ministerial team is to carry out an analysis of existing legal solutions concerning prevention and intervention in cases of violence in schools, as well as to establish the necessary coordination and exchange of information between schools, police, judiciary and social work centres.
Brnabic stated that the next step is to form an inter-ministerial working body that will deal with the analysis of legal solutions and regulation of procedures, and added that special emphasis will be on the prevention of digital violence, which is recognized as one of the forms of peer violence.
Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarčevic pointed to the need to approach peer violence systemically and to establish clear procedures of cooperation between institutions that can contribute to more effective response and prevention of violence.
At the meeting, it was pointed out that the goal is that everyone should be familiar with equal legal regulations, as well as procedures that link centres for social work and other institutions in order to establish clearer limits of jurisdiction.
Also, the next steps of the Ministerial Team's work were agreed at the meeting.
