Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today at a meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto that the government remains firmly committed to the European path of Serbia and that it will continue to work hard on the economic reforms launched.
Brnabic stressed that these reforms are not only a ticket for membership in the European community, but also a condition for building a modern and stable state.
Szijjarto reiterated that Serbia has made great progress on the European path and that he expects that another five chapters will be opened this year, adding that Serbia should be given additional impetus so the process of integration develops as fast as possible.
The two officials agreed that cooperation on the economic plan is extremely important for both countries and that it can be further strengthened with new infrastructure and energy investments. It was pointed out that Serbia and Hungary are already working on important investments such as energy connection and the Belgrade – Budapest railway.
Szijjarto stated that Hungary guarantees all rights to the Serb minority in that country and once again praised Serbia for respecting the rights of the Hungarian minority, stressing that Serbia is one of the leaders in the region when it comes to working with national minorities and respecting their rights.
