Together with Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Branko Ruzic, Brnabic took part in a walk from Cvetni trg square to the Republic Square.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Serbian government is there for all the citizens, that it will not tolerate hate speech and hate crimes and that it will punish them consistently, and that it is good that we can have different things that contribute to the strengthening of society.
Tonight I will go to the basketball match to support our team, life continues normally, and people have the right to walk. We as government secure that right to them, and we have been doing that since 2014, she underlined.
Brnabic said she is particularly happy that a much smaller number of police officers are present than in previous years, and that people who do not want to take part in the walk are normally dealing with their jobs, which shows that Belgrade and Serbia can be open and tolerant.
When asked by reporters whether we will ever reach the level when Pride Parade will be held without the police and the blockade of the city, Brnabic noted that everywhere in the world the streets are closed during Pride Parade, and that it is a question whether that is because of a large number people, or because of security.
She stressed that the fight for human rights will look like the fight for the rights of businessmen - everything will be resolved through dialogue.
Member of the Organising Committee of Belgrade Pride Parade 2017 Goran Miletic stated that the presence of the top government officials is a reason for the joy of members of the LGBT community.
