Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar said that the adoption of the Law on citizen's lawyer will create a democratic institution in the form of a legal ombudsman with the aim of protecting citizens from unlawful and self-willed behaviour of state bodies.

Loncar told a press conference that Serbia will become the 133rd country in the world to get this institution of legal ombudsman. He said that the election of this democratic institution will be in line with European standards and will be done through a majority vote in the Serbian parliament, at the proposal of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs.
He said that any person whose rights are violated by an action of a state body will have a right to submit a complaint to the legal ombudsman, free of any taxes.
