Indian actress Aishwarya Rai and US director Alexander Payne last night opened the 57th Cannes Film Festival, which ends on May 22.

The festival opened with “Lemming”, featuring Charlotte Rampling and Charlotte Gainsbourg and directed by Dominik Moll.
