The competition for the “New Gates of Belgrade” will be open from May 5 to September 9, Zanardi Landi said, noting that the idea was initiated by the “dark picture” of the central city zone visitors coming from EU countries see in Belgrade.
The awards for the best design project will be granted in October as part of the “Italia a Belgrado 2005” business event, Zanardi Landi said, specifying that the winner of the first prize will receive €10,000.
The competition is being carried out by the Italian Embassy and Italian Cultural Centre to Belgrade with the support of the Rome Association of Architects and Belgrade Association of Architects as well as architecture faculties from both cities.
The competition has been sponsored by companies SFIR and Balkan Investment Development (BID), with the support of the Serbian Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection.
