Mladjan Dinkic
Dinkic told Tanjug that it is still early to speculate the outcome of the talks, which will last for the next two or three days, but he said that the government is optimistic about a positive outcome.
Dinkic said that the Serbian delegation also met with officials from the US Department of the Treasury to discuss various budgetary measures, improved public debt management, Serbia’s arrangement with the IMF, and the government’s plans for the future.
“We also discussed the positive role of the US in negotiations with the Paris Club of creditors on the forthcoming write-off of 15 percent of Serbia’s debt after the three-year arrangement with the IMF expires, “said Dinkic.
He also expressed optimism when it comes to restoring of the US’s financial assistance to Serbia, which is currently on hold. According to him, positive developments in Serbia could influence the US to continue its assistance.
The US’s financial assistance to Serbia also has symbolic value, given that the US is the most powerful country in the world, said Dinkic and added that delegation will also meet with representatives of the US Senate Committee on Appropriations.
