The project is financed by the government of Japan, which has a total value of $3.64 million.
Director of the Office for Reconstruction and Flood Relief Marko Blagojevic said after the signing that the damages in the Kolubara river basin in disastrous floods last year accounted for 60% of total damages in Serbia.
Blagojevic said that the total damage in Serbia was higher than €1.7 billion, while the damage in the Kolubara basin only is estimated at between €900 million to €1 billion.
He noted that this study was part of a wider project to improve the resistance to respond to emergencies funded by the government of Japan and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Office for Reconstruction and Flood Relief.
