Nikolic stated that Republika Srpska cannot defend itself from the threat of terrorism and that is why Serbia will help her.
After the meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and interior ministers of Serbia and Republika Srpska Nebojsa Stefanovic and Dragan Lukac at the Serbian government of Serbia at which the situation after the terrorist attack in Zvornik was discussed, Nikolic said that neither Serbia nor Republika Srpska affect world events and the global threats have not been caused by any behaviour of Serbia and Republika Srpska, but it is obvious that they may be victims or collateral damage.
Republika Srpska within the present composition of Bosnia-Herzegovina is not sufficiently prepared to defend itself from the growing threat of fundamentalism and terrorism, which is why Serbia is obliged to help her, Nikolic stated.
We discussed the modalities. It is obvious that all the countries in the Balkans have to establish closer and more concrete cooperation to find out whether someone has been drawn into the network from which there is no return, Nikolic said.
The Serbian President said that the incident in Zvornik shows that the international community has failed to constitute many things in Bosnia-Herzegovina that affect its functioning.
He stated that Serbia does not want to do anything that would harm the functioning and survival of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but at the same time, it will not allow anything to harm the entity of Republika Srpska within Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Nikolic noted that many fighters return from various war zones to their home countries where fighting as a mercenary is prohibited, but it is questionable whether those country prosecute them.
He warned that the Balkans are still vulnerable today even 20 years after the Dayton Agreement and open wounds would mean that all that time has been lost and that that is also the responsibility of those who are in charge of Bosnia-Herzegovina on behalf of the international community.
My message to the citizens of Serbia and Republika Srpska is that they can be completely calm. The competent authorities in Serbia and Republika Srpska will do everything in their power and what they are obliged under the constitution and laws, to ensure peace and security of its citizens and not to allow that any illegal and terrorist behaviour spill into those countries, Nikolic said.
He added that the primary objective is that citizens should not fear from anyone, and that the institutions of Serbia and Republika Srpska cooperate closer and more intensively, and at the same time called on the government of other entities in Bosnia-Herzegovina and its neighbouring countries to cooperate.

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik announced today that this entity, after the dreadful event in Zvornik, where one policeman was killed and two injured, will develop a new strategy of security structures.
According to Dodik, this means that Republika Srpska will cooperate with the security structures of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia as the fight against terrorism can not be isolated.
He noted that today's meeting with President Nikolic and Prime Minister Vucic was actually part of regular consultations, and that the issue of security after the terrorist attacks in Zvornik was also discussed.
Within our powers, we cooperate on the issue of exchange of information and the fight against terrorism and together we will do everything to stop the spreading of terrorism. Even more because Zvornik is on the Drina River, on the border with Serbia, the President of Republika Srpska stated.
Dodik stressed that Republika Srpska has its own powers in the field of police structures, but some competencies were taken from it and transferred to the level of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, such as justice and security.
SIPA is the only body that has authority in the field of terrorism, Dodik said and added that it is obvious that Republika Srpska does not have sufficient information on their work.
Referring to the similar events in Bugojno and the terrorist attack on the US Embassy in Sarajevo, Dodik did not rule out the possibility that something similar will happen in the future.
That is why the fight against terrorism is one of the priorities of Republika Srpska, and should also be a priority of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dodik pointed out.
The President of Republika Srpska pointed out that Serbia and Republika Srpska have to take care about the common security of the entire region, which has been endangered by the recent events.
In light of that, he referred to the recent attack on a police border post in northern Macedonia.
In any case we want a powerful and strong Serbia that we can see as a haven from which we can get help, the President of Republika Srpska said.
