Battling high-tech crime requires regional cooperation

Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic stated that the timely and efficient police cooperation in the battle against high-tech crime in the region of South East Europe is one of the priorities in the work of that ministry.

At a regional seminar dedicated to this topic, Stefanovic stressed the need for keeping pace with the latest technologies, but also for expanding the exchange of information and experience.

He pointed to the great importance of international police cooperation in this area in order to best respond to this scourge of modern society.

Regional cooperation helps detect crimes such as the abuse of minors for pornography on the Internet, endangering the safety of citizens, the spread of racial and religious hatred, intolerance, xenophobia, racism and misuse of credit cards, said the Minister.

He expressed his gratitude to the French Embassy in Belgrade for its assistance to the Ministry in all previous years, especially in the field of training and exchange of experiences in fighting cyber crime.

Ambassador of France Christine Moro said that the two-day seminar is a good opportunity for the exchange of experience and good practice information between experts in this area.

The seminar brought together representatives from the police, judiciary, customs and Europol from Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina , Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and France.
