Speaking at a press conference after a meeting with European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, Vucic underlined that Serbia is not responsible for the current migrations, which have caused concern in Europe.
Serbia made a quick action in consultation with Brussels and some European governments.
He added that Serbia has acted in accordance with the agreement from Brussels on freedom of movement, but also with the governments of the EU and has taken action to bring back the people who have tried to take advantage of the freedom of movement to where they came from.
Vucic added that he spoke with Avramopoulos about the tasks of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Justice, and the entire government of Serbia concerning the issues of migrants, asylum seekers, the fight against corruption, organised crime throughout the region and terrorism.
They also discussed European future of Serbia and the fact that our country needs the support and assistance in Chapters 23 and 24.
Our country has received considerable support for stable development and the path towards the EU, the Prime Minister noted, adding that Avramopoulos said that he sees Serbia as a factor of stability in the Western Balkans.
Vucic told Avramopoulos that Serbia has good or excellent relations with all its neighbours and that it wants to further improve them.
He thanked Avramopoulos for believing that Serbia’s place is in the EU and told him that he is always a dear guest in Belgrade.
